Reviews on Saxon Math 54 65 76 87 middle grades
I would love some people to give reviews on the following information about middle grades Saxon Math.
Having spent our last homeschool year using Saxon Math 5/4, which by the way we have used Saxon Math since 2nd grade. We are planning to move ahead into Saxon 65 but I had a few questions I could not seem to find answers to anywhere so, I am opening up comments. Please leave your reviews.
I am interested in finding out about the different editions. I used Saxon Math 54 2nd edition, published 2001. There were earlier publishings to that textbook. Now as we move on to Saxon Math 65, I want to purchase a 2nd edition again however I am only finding an early (1995) publishing; were there any other publishing dates with 65? The same question applies to 76 and 87.
The other answers I am looking for have to do with the new 3rd edition. Just viewing the online snip its, it seems to be the homeschool friendly version. However, what makes the 3rd edition of Saxon Math so different from the 2rd edition that would make me want to use that newer edition over the 2nd edition?
And then there is the new debate over Saxon or Singapore Math. But I will save that for another day. The previous questions are what I am really looking for answers to.

Connecting Science pre-k, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, grade
Another great CM style resource for science comes from a company called Teacher Created Resources. It’s called Connecting Science. They use literature, picture books to explain a science concept and then list several fun activities to reinforce the concept. Teaching Science concepts never got easier for primary grades pre-K through 5th.
Several book titles and topics to choose from. I really like this book they its very user friendly for both teacher and child. I was struggling with when to start Apologia materials this year or next – then I found my first Connecting Science Book at a book sale. For primary and younger ages these manuals are perfect. The newer versions may not include the literature you would have to check. However they do offer a thematic version for almost all the Magic School Bus series. These books are much better than I originally expected as a homeschooler.
You can find titles for yourself through the link below.

Ambleweb has got lots of wonderful teaching aids. The link to their site is found on amblesideprimary.com
A teaching tool I like to use is their analog clock. It tells time from 5 minutes, 15 minutes and hour increments. It’s a fun way to explain time and for your child to learn with or without your assistance.
Skip Count with Ease
Choose a number to begin your skip counting and choose increments your child needs to learn.. Here is a link to a website that is fun to “play skip counting” Your child may not realize they are learning!
The nice thing about this supersequencer is that you can adjust it to go slow, medium or fast. You can skip count what ever number you want skip count 2, skip count 3, skip count 4, skip count by hundreds, or tens. Have a race with it or play a game with it. Let your child see it and say it. Great for an homeschooling an only child who needs to practice math.

Latin, Greek, Root Words
PharmaOmega Learn is designed for school-aged children who need omega-3 to help them focus and do their best in school.
Trying to decide on a homeschool curriculum for learning Latin can be difficult. Maybe you just want your child to learn what the root words mean.
I have discovered English from the Roots Up It’s a very easy conscept for children to pick up. It’s set up by using a 3X5 card system. Red borders around the cards mean Latin based word, green borders around the card be Greek based word. On the back of the card you write words that are associated with your root word. It seems easy and fun for even the most finicky child.
Memorare website also offers free interactive educational flashcards and lists associated with English from the Roots Up.

Music is such a fun way to learn math! Learn anything…
Did you know you can find old and newer school house rock videos on Youtube? It’s not the same as having your own collection but it sure makes you reminisce back to the days of singing these tunes. I am sure once you see some of these, like so many of us you will be hooked and want the whole collection. But if your strapped for fund at least you can be safe viewing these videos from this website.
I don’t recommend you sending your kids to youtube unattended by a parent. Parents should always search first and view first. That’s why I post good videos on my site. Don’t get me wrong, I love Youtube it’s got some awesome videos on it, anything you could possibly want. Yet therein lies the problem. You don’t have to worry about clicking the a video here and having it turn out to have inappropriate content.
